We are pleased to announce the full activity and food details for the third annual Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Community Celebration for administrative and support staff on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. (Check out photos from last year’s event here). We can’t wait to come together, once again, to celebrate YOU and your many contributions!  Full details below.   
 

Practical info: 

When:Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 1 to 4 p.m.  

Where: Molson Stadium field, 475 Pine Avenue West, Montreal. In case of rain the event will move to the Tomlinson Hall – we’ll send you an email if this happens. 

Event tickets: All registrants should have received their admission e-ticket. You must show this to our check-in volunteers on the day of. No e-ticket, no entry.
 

IMPORTANT NOTES:  

  • The main entry/check-in point is different than the one used last year. Once you arrive at 475 Pine Avenue West, walk through the stadium garage and climb up the staircase. At the landing, please follow our volunteers’ instructions and signs leading you to the main check-in point (east end of the field). Have your e-ticket ready to show to our volunteers. Please note: the side entrance of The Neuro will NOT be in use for our event. 
  • Please bring your own (BYO) reusable water bottle as we continue to support McGill’s sustainability aim to eliminate single-use plastic water bottles.  A water refill station will be available on the field. 
  • BYO sunscreen and picnic blankets 
  • We encourage you to wear light, comfortable clothes and shoes so that you can enjoy the variety of games and activities on-site.

HOW THE PRIZE DRAWS WILL WORK:  Everyone will receive a numbered raffle ticket at check-in. Winners will be randomly drawn and announced throughout the event. If a prize is not claimed immediately, another ticket will be drawn.

Please note: attendees are welcome to sample snacks and beverages from all the kiosks this year (no vouchers needed).

 

ACTIVITY CIRCUIT: 

We will be hosting a circuit of fun games and activities. For every activity you participate in, you will receive a stamp on your hand. Participants with at least 4 out of 6 stamps are eligible to be entered in a separate participatory raffle prize. These prizes will also be awarded throughout the event.  

Already know which team game you want to participate in? Form a team beforehand, if you can, so that you’re ready to play right away! Max. 4-5 people per team.

FITNESS: 
Essentrics  

Take a mini stretch break by joining the Montreal-born Essentrics Workout! This science-based, full body, dynamic stretching & strengthening technique will boost your energy and relieve any tension in your joints so you can enjoy your full day of activities. There will be three 20-minute sessions with max. 30 participants/session. Come say hi and learn more about Essentrics Studio located at Honeyrose Hotel Montreal.
 

COMMUNITY OUTREACH & WELLNESS ACTIVITIES:  

Animal Therapy with the Student Wellness Hub  

 This year, we’re excited to partner with McGill Student Wellness Hub Animal Therapy to amp up the excitement and joy at our staff celebration! Come meet our furry Labrador friends – Nitro, Cartouche and Target – who are sure to make our event a memorable one!  

 

Logifem keychain decorating activity and donation drive 

Logifem provides shelter and care to women and children in Montreal, with the vision to equip and empower them to leave the cycle of homelessness and to thrive in life. Learn more about Project Lotus, Logifem’s research partnership with McGill University.  

  • Make a keychain for a Logifem family! To commemorate the opening of their new permanent apartments this fall (hoorah!!), you are invited to a keychain/keyring decorating activity! Materials and art supplies will be provided.  
  • Donation drive: Logifem is seeking gently used or new summer clothes and accessories for their clientele. You are invited to bring max. 3 item(s) from the following list:  
    • Women: shorts, dresses, pants/jeans (size L/XL), tops, shoes (sizes 8-10), bathing suits (new), underwear (new) 
    • Boys’ summer clothes (size 10) 
    • Girls’ summer clothes (sizes 5-6) 

 

Blood Pressure 101, by Ingram School of Nursing students 

Come to the Blood Pressure 101 booth to get your vitals taken by a student nurse! World Restart a Heart cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) demonstration booth 

McGill World Restart a Heart (WRAH) is a student-led interprofessional initiative that aims to educate communities across Canada about the importance of bystander CPR enhance CPR knowledge and skills, and ultimately, to reduce the number of cardiac arrest deaths. Pass by their educational booth to gain hands-on experience of performing CPR and using an automated external defibrillator on simulated manikins.

 

Seed Giveaway by MacDonald Campus Seed Library & McGill Library 

With gardening season in full bloom, we are excited to partner with the Macdonald Campus Seed Library initiative and McGill Libraries to offer seed giveaways and raffle prizes! Meet our librarians visiting from the Macdonald and Downtown campuses to register for the Seed Library and learn more about McGill Libraries’ numerous resources for faculty and staff!
