Mariane Bertagnolli, PhD, Assistant Professor, School of Physical and Occupational Therapy and scientist and co-leader of the Cardiovascular Health Across the Lifespan (CHAL) Program at The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (The Institute), was honoured this month, receiving the Prix Nouveau Chercheur 2025 from the Société québécoise d’hypertension artérielle (SQHA).
This award recognizes outstanding early-career researchers in Quebec who have made significant contributions to the field of hypertension.
“The SQHA has played a crucial role in my career at every stage,” says Professor Bertagnolli, who has been a member of the organization since 2010, when she moved from Brazil to Canada. “During my training, I had the honour of receiving one of the first FRQS-SQHA Jacques de Champlain postdoctoral fellowships, which supported my research project. As I established myself as an independent investigator, the SQHA provided invaluable opportunities for me and my team, through networking, awards, and scholarships.”
Prof. Bertagnolli expressed her gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the SQHA’s important role in fostering research and education on hypertension in Quebec. “I am honoured to receive this award and grateful to be part of a community dedicated to improving our understanding of hypertension and advancing patient care.”
