Patrick Willemot, MDCM, Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Assistant Dean, Admissions, Equity and Enrollment, Postgraduate Medical Education, was recently appointed Vice-Chair of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada General Internal Medicine (GIM) Specialty Committee. 

This appointment recognizes Dr. Willemot’s significant contributions to GIM as a specialty. As Vice-Chair, he occupies one of approximately eight voting positions on the committee and is positioned as the next in line to become Chair of the committee. 

The Committee oversees the training requirements and examination which lead to specialty certification in GIM, as well as the specific accreditation requirements for training programs in GIM, representing the national standards for GIM training in Canada.
