On Thursday, May 2, the Osler Library of the History of Medicine presents Dr. Frank W. Stahnisch, a historian of medicine and neuroscience at the University of Calgary in Alberta, delivering the Nickerson Fellowship Lecture. “Neurological Laboratories’ to Interdisciplinary ‘Centres of Brain Research’: Otfrid Foerster, Wilder Penfield, and Early Neuroscience in Breslau and Montreal” takes place from 2-3 p.m. in the Don Bates Seminar Room 101, 3647 Peel. The presentation addresses a time period and a subject of investigation that has only marginally been dealt with in the history of medicine and neurosciences: the influences and the context of the creation of early centres of neuroscientific research at the beginning of the 20th century.
