Five Faculty of Medicine representatives were among those honoured with Principal’s Awards over the course of McGill’s two convocation ceremonies held on October 29th, 2014.
During the morning ceremony, three representatives of the Faculty of Medicine received Principal’s Awards in the Administration and Clerical Staff category.
The Undergraduate Medical Education team was awarded the 2014 Principal’s Award for Administrative and Support Staff in the Team Projects Category. Recognized as part of the award, were: Kate Allan, Anne Briggs, Mary Cecere, Heidi Cheung, Carolyn Cichon, John Cloutier, Silvana Di Lollo, Jean-Francois Gravel, Maryse Grignon, Nicole Guedon, Tim Johns, Shie Kasai, Melissa Knock, Anna Lee, Elizabeth Lefebvre, Carole Lemieux, Tamara Lutz, Sunita Mathew, Danielle Moronval, Farhad Saboohi, and Alessandra Tedeschi.
Pina Sorrini, the Student Affairs Officer in the Department of Biomedical Engineering received the 2014 Principal’s Prize for Administrative and Academic Support Staff in the Managerial category, and, Anna Ballarano, who works at the Royal Vic as the Residency Coordinator for Cardiology, won a Principal’s Award for Administrative and Support Staff in the Clerical category.
Two additional Faculty of Medicine representatives were honored with Principal’s Prizes for Excellence in Teaching during the afternoon Convocation ceremony. Professor Nancy Mayo was awarded the 2014 Principal’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching in the category of Full Professor. Professor Mayo is a James McGill Professor in the Department of Medicine (Division of Geriatrics and Division of Clinical Epidemiology) and the School of Physical and Occupational Therapy, McGill University. She is also a Research Scientist at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre where she is the head of the Health Outcomes Axis.
Professor Colin Chalk was awarded the 2014 Principal’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching in the category of Associate Professor. Dr. Chalk is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at McGill University and Neurologist-in-Chief at the Montreal General Hospital in the Departments of Medicine and Neurology & Neurosurgery.
