Discovery of a gene associated with schizophrenia

Genetic mutations could predispose some people to schizophrenia, Canadian researchers say in a study published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science in the United States.

According to researchers from the University of Montreal, the study results show that new mutations in the SHANK3 gene are present in some schizophrenia patients… The study was conducted with the collaboration of several institutions, including Harvard Medical School, McGill University and Université Paris Descartes in particular.

Des mutations génétiques pourraient prédisposer certaines personnes à la schizophrénie, affirment des chercheurs canadiens dans une étude publiée lundi dans les Proceedings of the National Academy of Science aux États-Unis.
