A piece written by Dr. Mitch Shulman, an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at McGill, warns of the dangers involved in giving anti-psychotic medication to patients suffering from dementia.

Dr. Shulman writes that while these drugs are effective when used for their intended purpose – to combat delusions and hallucinations – they are not meant to counteract wandering and other common consequences of dementia and can result in serious risk of injury or even death.
