Dr. Ernesto L. Schiffrin, MD, PhD, FRSC, FRCPC, FACP is the recipient of the 2010 Bjorn Folkow Award and Lecture of the European Society of Hypertension in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to hypertension research.
Dr. Schiffrin is physician-in-Chief, Department of Medicine at the Jewish General Hospital and Canada Research Chair in Hypertension and Vascular Research at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research as well as Professor and Vice-Chair (Research), at the Department of Medicine, McGill University.
The Bjorn Folkow Award has been established since 1987 by the European Society of Hypertension with the collaboration of ASTRAZENECA in recognition of the contribution made by Bjorn Folkow to cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology. The award is given to a person or persons who have carried out important original research on pathogenesis of hypertension.

Le Dr Schiffrin est Chef du Département de médecine à l’Hôpital général juif et Chaire de recherche du Canada sur l’hypertension et les recherches vasculaires à l’Institut de recherches médicales Lady Davis ainsi que Professeur et Vice-directeur pour la recherche au Département de médecine a l’Université McGill.
Le prix Bjorn Folkow a été établi depuis 1987 par la Société européenne d’hypertension avec la collaboration d’ASTRAZENECA en reconnaissance de la contribution apportée par Bjorn Folkow à la physiologie et la parthophysiologie cardio-vasculaires. Ce prix est décerné à une personne ou des personnes qui ont effectué d’importants travaux de recherche originaux sur la pathogenèse de l’hypertension.
