We’d like very much for you to join us on a short, but extremely important walk through downtown streets on Tuesday, Oct. 1 – joining the hundreds and hundreds of people who will take part in The March of the Umbrellas, the kick-off of Montreal’s annual Centraide campaign.

As most of you know, Centraide raises millions of dollars every autumn to support 370 agencies in the greater Montreal area that provide help to individuals and families in poverty or who live their lives cut off from contact with others. These agencies have deep community roots and have demonstrated an ability to innovate and work with other partners as they focus on empowering individuals to overcome hardship.

As part of our commitment to the Montreal community of which we are a part, McGill has long been a strong supporter of Centraide. Our annual campaign has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to help people who are hungry, alone, in need of care or a helping hand to get back on their feet.

We can’t do it without your help. Please join us Tuesday at the Roddick Gates at 11:25 a.m. sharp, so a big McGill contingent can assemble with the rest of the parade at 11:30. Please bring along your own umbrella (preferably red) and wear a red jacket or sweater to help identify yourself as part of the McGill team. We’ll take a picture at the Gates before we start the march, which begins at noon and ends at 1:15 p.m. You are more than welcome to join us for at long as you can.

Let’s go for a walk next Tuesday. Let’s do some good.

Sincerely,

The McGill Centraide Committee Co-Chairs
