The honourees, who will be celebrated at the Faculty Honour List Symposium in June, have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to education in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Congratulations to the seven illustrious educators in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), who have been named to the 2025-2026 Faculty Honour List for Educational Excellence!
Created and promoted by Faculty Enrichment and Development (formerly known as the Faculty Development Office), the Faculty Honour List for Educational Excellence recognizes outstanding contributions to education in the FMHS in the areas of teaching; educational leadership and innovation; faculty development; and education research and scholarship.
“This year’s honourees are very impressive and committed as educators and they contribute so much to the excellence of the FMHS,” says Sophie Vaillancourt, MBA, S-LP, Associate Dean, Faculty Enrichment and Development.
“It was very inspiring to read what their nominators had to say about them as much as it was humbling to learn more about their spectacular accomplishments. It will be an honour to recognize these individuals at our symposium in June.”
Read about this year’s honourees, as well as comments from their supporters, below:
Julia Chabot, MDCM
Associate Professor, Department of Medicine
“Dr. Chabot represents the very best [the FMHS] has to offer. Her contributions to McGill University, the field of Geriatric Medicine, and to the professional development of countless trainees speak for themselves. I have no doubt that her continued work, both at McGill and with the Quebec Geriatricians’ Association, will have a lasting impact on the field of Geriatrics in Quebec and beyond.”
Douglass Dalton, MDCM
Chair, Faculty Postgraduate Promotions Committee, Postgraduate Medical Education
Associate Professor, Department of Family Medicine
“It is rare to meet a medical student or resident who doesn’t recall Dr. Dalton, the Family Doctor at CLSC Métro. He has shown perseverance and dedication to patient care, community service and teaching of Family Medicine during periods and within systems that have not always been fully supportive of our specialty. He has quietly mentored and supported numerous students, residents and faculty in their development as Family Medicine doctors, teachers and leaders.”
Catherine Jarvis, MD
Director of Faculty Development, Department of Family Medicine
“She is ready to learn from anyone, open to the new without being faddish. Her judgment in all things educational is like her judgment in all things clinical: extremely sound, effective, patient and learner-centered. She has a special interest in the experiences and care of the most marginalized patients that we have in our very demanding and multicultural practice.”
Oxana Kapoustina, RN
Program Director, Bachelor’s of Nursing (Integrated) Program, Online modality
Assistant Professor, Ingram School of Nursing
“As her colleague and collaborator, I can attest to Oxana Kapoustina’s tireless work ethic, innovative spirit, authenticity, altruism and genuine passion for nursing education. She is a trusted and valued member of our team, and her teaching contributions have profoundly enriched our programs, students and faculty.”
Annette Majnemer, OT, PhD
Professor, School of Physical and Occupational Therapy
Former Vice-Dean, Education, FMHS
“Prof. Majnemer’s leadership, mentorship and support of education are unwavering. She is an exceptional person to work with – driven, inspiring, and visionary. Her impact on education in the FMHS and beyond is truly remarkable.”
Irene Sarasua, RN, MSc(A)-N
Program Director, Nurse Practitioner (NP) Programs
Assistant Professor, Ingram School of Nursing
“Prof. Sarasua’s high standards in both the quality and quantity of her work and her knowledge and skills would be difficult to match. She is a champion for, among many other interests and passions, ensuring the delivery of high-quality nurse practitioner education and for ensuring equity, diversity and inclusion in education.”
Lauren Tittley, MHSc
Faculty Lecturer (Professional)
Coordinator of Clinical Education, School of Communication Sciences and Disorders
“Ms. Tittley is a dedicated and exceptional educator. She approaches her work with curiosity and attentiveness, consistently seeking to enhance her teaching methods and introduce innovative practices. Her commitment is evident in the tireless passion she brings to creating a safe, supportive learning environment for students, while also empowering clinical teachers to grow and refine their supervisory skills.”
