To take action within the complex world of health, it takes creativity, imagination and leadership. The new president of the Quebec Medical Association, Dr. Ruth Élaine Vander Stelt, appointed as of April 16, defends with conviction the ideas that emerged during her years of practice. Radio-Canada recently named her Personality of the Week.

Dr. Vander Stelt completed her medical studies at Laval University in Quebec City. When she started working as a new physician, she had to practice for a time in a remote area outside of Montreal. She chose a rural and bilingual community and made her roots there. Today, she doesn’t feel any desire to leave. “I feel a sense of responsibility towards my clientele.”
