Congratulations to RI-MUHC trainee Motahareh Vameghestahbanati!

Congratulations to Motahareh Vameghestahbanati, doctoral trainee in the Department of Medicine at McGill University and Translational Research in Respiratory Diseases Program at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI‑MUHC). She has earned a McGill MedStar Award for Traineesfor her publication in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine entitled: Central Airway Tree Dysanapsis Extends to the Peripheral Airways.

Motahareh Vameghestahbanati’s work, which has helped identify a major risk factor for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, is supervised by Dr. Benjamin Smith, a scientist at the RI-MUHC. She has published other publications recently in CHEST Journaland the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

The objective of the MedStar Award is to recognize the excellence of research done at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of McGill University by undergraduate (B.Sc.) and graduate students (M.Sc., PhD), postdoctoral fellows, and residents in all fields and disciplines covered by the Faculty, as well as to promote careers in health research.
