Toronto, ON (October 24, 2012) Research Infosource Inc., Canada’s source of Research and Development Intelligence, has released Canada’s Top 40 Research Hospitals List 2012.  Total research income for the 15 research hospitals tracked in Quebec rose by a combined 4.8% in Fiscal 2011, which was well above the national research income growth of 0.7%.  As a result, Quebec institutions captured 27% of the national total, up from 26% in Fiscal 2010. Data were obtained through a survey of research hospitals and financial statements.  Information in Alberta was not available. Quebec hospitals recorded total research income of $594 million last year, up from $567 million in Fiscal 2010.  The leading Quebec research hospital was McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) with a 16.7% year-over-year funding increase to $153.0 million in Fiscal 2011.  Centre hospitalier universitaire de Québec (CHUQ) was next on the list with $75.6 million, followed by Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) with $67.8 million, Sir Mortimer B. Davis Jewish General Hospital ($54.0 million) and Institut de Cardiologie de Montréal ($51.5 million) rounding the top 5.
