Dear members of the McGill community:

I am pleased to share that McGill’s Board of Governors has approved my recommendation to extend the current appointments of Professor Martha Crago as Vice-Principal (Research and Innovation), and Dr. David Eidelman as Vice-Principal (Health Affairs) and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Both extensions will be for a one-year period, from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023. The Board approved these extensions at its meeting on April 22, 2021.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the University’s Research and Innovation unit, and on the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Prof. Crago and Dr. Eidelman have shown exemplary leadership during this time of unprecedented challenge. Extending their appointments will allow them to continue to steer their teams through the end of the crisis and through recovery, and provide stability to the University in this critical period.

Thank you to Prof. Crago and Dr. Eidelman for their commitment and service during these extraordinary times, and for agreeing to extend their appointments for a year.

Sincerely,

Professor Suzanne Fortier

Principal and Vice-Chancellor
