A first cohort of 24 students could make their entrance to the satellite faculty of medicine in Outaouais beginning in September 2016, according to the recommendations presented yesterday to the administrative council of l’Agence de la santé by the medical education directorate.

The conclusion of the feasibility study by Dr. Gilles Brosseau, Assistant Dean of Medical Education for Campus santé Outaouais at McGill University is clear. “A delocalized McGill University faculty of medicine in Outaouais is feasible and necessary.”

The implementation of the satellite faculty requires non-recurrent investments of $13 million from the ministries of Health and Educacation.  Subsequently, the same two ministries would need to inject annual recurring investments of $15 million primarily to cover salaries for human resources.
