Doctoral candidate Michael Lifshitz has won NSERC’s 2013 André Hamer Postgraduate Prize, one of three McGill researchers recognized by NSERC this week. The prizes were presented at a special ceremony on February 3, 2014 at the Governor General of Canada’s residence, Rideau Hall, in Ottawa.
Lifshitz is working with Dr. Amir Raz, Canada Research Chair in the Cognitive Neuroscience of Attention, to prove how mental training can improve behaviour. His research uses non-invasive brain imaging to show how mental training strengthens brain networks, resulting in improved cognitive, emotional and social aptitude.
