Hélène Boisjoly, tenured professor within the Department of Ophtalmology of the Faculty of Medicine at l’Université de Montréal, will assume the role of Dean of the Faculty. This is the first time in the history of Quebec’s faculties of medicine that a woman will hold the position.

A physician, specialist in corneal transplantation and master of public health, Hélène Boisjoly was previously a national researcher at the Fonds de la recherche en santé du Québec (FRSQ) and Executive Director of the FRSQ network in vision health. At l’Université de Montréal, she established several research and teaching funds. Ms. Boisjoly will commence her appointment on June 1 for a mandate that will end on May 31, 2015.
