
As part of our Spring Convocation 2025 coverage, we asked graduates from our six Schools to share their experiences of completing a degree in McGill’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Here, we meet Class of 2025 member Jessica Ding from the Ingram School of Nursing. Jessica completed her Master of Science (Applied) in Advanced Nursing and received her degree at the Spring Convocation Ceremony on May 27. Congratulations Jessica!

What did you love most about studying at McGill’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences?
I loved the personal and professional connections that I made. I truly cherish the relationships that I had the chance to build during my studies at McGill.
Please share a particularly proud or challenging moment from your degree?
I am particularly proud of having stepped out of my comfort zone and engaged in creative initiatives like podcast creation to promote practice change.
A fave snack to relieve stress?
Cachitos’ cocada (cocunut shake) is just the drink needed to decompress and enjoy a sunny afternoon after a study session.
Top tip for incoming students in your program?
Many opportunities will arise during your studies, keep an open mind and be willing to try them out. The results may be surprising.
What’s next for you?
I will continue to work at the bedside and in nursing research to align practice with evidence.
