As part of our Spring Convocation 2025 coverage, we asked graduates from our six Schools to share their experiences of completing a degree in McGill’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Here, we meet Class of 2025 member Hannah Doyle from the School of Population and Global Health. Hannah completed her MSc in Public Health and received her degree at the Spring Convocation Ceremony on May 27. Congratulations Hannah!

What did you love most about studying in McGill’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences?

The environment was truly special – a welcoming, collaborative space where friends, peers and professors fostered new ideas and inspired learning.

Please share a particularly proud or challenging moment from your degree?

My practicum experience! It was challenging but extremely rewarding to apply the concepts learned in my courses to ongoing research. I am proud of my practicum project and grateful for all the opportunities that have come from my work.

Your fave activities while at McGill?

Doing puzzles with friends in our student society office and playing squash at the rec centre.

Any shoutouts?

I want to shoutout Prof. Jill Baumgartner for her mentorship and ongoing support throughout my degree. She is such an incredible professor and I have greatly appreciated her thoughtful guidance! I also want to thank all the students, staff and faculty at the School of Population and Global Health who work incredibly hard and are always there to help you out!

Top tip for incoming students in your program?

Be open to new opportunities and experiences. If you find a topic or research area interesting, follow that interest, talk to your professors, or check out a seminar. You may find a new passion that could change the trajectory of your career!

What’s next for you?

I am currently working in air quality monitoring and environmental health.
