For the sixth consecutive year, McGill has been named one of Montreal’s Top Employers, as selected by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. In addition to the University, this year’s list of 30 Montreal institutions again includes the McGill University Health Centre and the Jewish General Hospital.

When it comes to McGill, evaluators noted that employees working on campus can take advantage of a variety of onsite amenities including an employee lounge, cafeteria (with healthy and special diet menus) and subsidized membership to the University’s fully-equipped athletics centre, which includes instructor-led classes, swimming pool, an all-season field house, skating arena and a sports medicine clinic.

As well, new employees receive three weeks of paid vacation allowance after one year and receive paid time off during the summer months. McGill helps employees prepare for the future with retirement planning assistance and a defined contribution pension plan.

The University supports employees who are new parents with maternity and parental leave top-up payments (to 95 per cent of salary for 20 weeks) and offers an option to extend their leave into an unpaid leave of absence, while providing parental top-up to adoption parents (to 100 per cent of salary for 10 weeks).
