The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) has award five McGill researchers the New Investigator Prize. They are Martin Schmeing (New Investigator), Robert Sladek (New Investigator), Giuseppina Ursini-Siegel (New Investigator), Rob Whitley (New Investigator) and Etienne De Villiers-Sidani (CIHR Clinician Scientist Phase-2).

These highly competitive national awards provide funding to support promising new researchers as they establish an independent research career.
