Leah Smith, who recently received her PhD in epidemiology from McGill University, was announced as one of two recipients for the CIHR-IHSPR’s 2015 Rising Star Award. Dr. Smith’s PhD thesis focused on the impact of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination on adolescent health outcomes. Following her time at McGill, Leah was a postdoctoral fellow at Queen’s University where she continued her research on the short-, intermediate-, and long-term effects of the HPV vaccine and Ontario’s Grade 8 HPV vaccination program and was also involved in a number of pharmacoepidemiologic studies. Leah recently started a new position as Epidemiologist for the Canadian Cancer Society
