Poor and marginalized populations in both high and low income countries are disproportionately exposed to environmental health hazards and their health consequences. On April 30th, the McGill Institute for Health and Social Policy and McGill Global Health Programs will host a one-day international policy conference ‘Environmental Health and Equity: Global Strategies and Innovation.’

It will be an opportunity for an international group of leading practice, policy and academic experts, including high-level representatives of government, non-governmental organizations, research organizations and private companies to present and discuss innovative and effective strategies.

Among the featured keynote speakers are:

Angela Glover Blackwell: Founder and CEO of PolicyLink, a US research and action institute aiming to advance economic and social equity and eliminate racial health disparities by using research to demonstrate the possibilities for positive change.

Yuyun Ismawati: Founder and Director of Bali Fokus, engineer and developer of sustainable community-based waste and sanitation programs that prioritize environmental health and economic benefits for local people. A Goldman Environmental Prize recipient for 2009, she is also Co-founder and Coordinator of Indonesia Toxics-Free Network.
