Dr. David Buckeridge

The INESSS (Institut national d’excellence en santé et en services sociaux) Board of Directors adopted a motion in late January to recognize Dr. David Buckeridge, Dr. Mathieu Maheu-Giroux and their collaborators from McGill University for “their invaluable contribution to the hospital projections that INESSS publishes every week, in the context of COVID-19 pandemic, in support of government and ministerial authorities, as well as to managers of the health and social services network.”

Dr. Mathieu Maheu-Giroux

Members of the School of Population and Global Health, Drs Buckeridge and Maheu-Giroux, and their colleagues Alexandra Schmidt, Arnaud Godin, Yiqing Xia, Dirk Douwes-Schultz, Alton Russell, Maxime Lavigne, Yannan Shen and Aman Verma, have been working tirelessly with the government’s public health bodies since the beginning of the pandemic to analyse data in order to estimate the impact of infection rates on hospital capacity.

Dr. Maheu-Giroux was also named a Radio-Canada Scientist of the Year, along with three other Canadian modelling experts.

Congratulations to all!
