Principal Suzanne Fortier - Owen Egan croppedDear members of the McGill community:

The year draws to a close and we are again bracing for our windows to become, in the wonderful phrase of the poet Émile Nelligan, “un jardin de givre.” As you busy yourselves with exams and work and the flurry of activity that marks this time of year, I would like to take this moment to say thank you.

Thank you for your strength and spirit during what was not the easiest year. Some of us lost dear friends. All of us dealt, and will continue to deal with, difficult financial restraints. Through these challenges, and others, you have continued to make McGill a vibrant and dynamic place to study and work. I am proud of everything we have achieved in 2014. I am grateful to be part of this exceptional community.

The holidays are a time to reflect on all the good things in our lives. They are a time to connect with family and friends. However you will be celebrating, I send you my warmest wishes. May your holidays be filled with relaxation, joy and peace.

Happy holidays and best wishes for a healthy new year,

Suzanne Fortier
