“Liver diseases affect one in three people in Canada,” says the RI-MUHC researcher and leading expert in fatty liver disease, “and I am proud to serve the cause.”
Dr. Giada Sebastiani was named President Elect of the Canadian Association for the Study of the Liver (CASL) during the annual Canadian Liver Meeting held in Toronto from March 1 to 3, 2024.
Dr. Sebastiani has made significant contributions to the field of liver health research. A leading expert in the epidemiology, natural history and extra-hepatic complications of fatty liver disease, her research focuses on screening for liver fibrosis and fatty liver of at-risk populations. At the RI-MUHC she is a senior scientist in the Infectious Diseases and Immunity in Global Health Program and conducts research at the Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation. She is a professor in the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, McGill University, and a hepatologist in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, MUHC. Her dedication and commitment to advancing liver health have earned her this prestigious position within CASL.
