I am pleased to announce the appointment of Geneviève Côté to the position of Director of the Building and Infrastructure Management Office (BIMO), Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS). The renamed BIMO represents a reorganization of the Building Director’s Office, responsible for the management of approximately 24 buildings, ensuring support to FMHS faculty and staff in their current and evolving research, teaching and administration needs. As part of the renewal of the office, Carmen Lampron, has also been named Associate Director, Research Infrastructure and Operations, BIMO.

For the past year, Ms. Côté has served as Interim Director of the Office and has established solid collaborations with internal and external stakeholders, leading this challenging portfolio with great acumen and success.

Reporting to the undersigned, Ms. Côté will lead the operationalization of the FMHS Space Master Plan, which encompasses the use of all space within buildings occupied by the FMHS, in close collaboration with Campus Planning and Development. She will act as chief project manager for all FMHS capital projects and oversee all buildings and spaces occupied by FMHS staff.

Ms. Côté will participate in the development of strategic direction related to buildings and facilities operations, and identify construction requirements and their related impacts. She will ensure effective project governance of FMHS building and renovation projects, and provide critical guidance and support in the development of major infrastructure projects. She will also ensure that feasibility studies, cost and schedule analyses for projects in development are on time and in accordance with space optimization principles established by the FMHS.

In conjunction with McGill’s Facilities groups, Ms. Côté and the BIMO team will ensure that safety standards, procedures and regulatory requirements are observed, and that security and building access protocols are established and monitored. She will act as a liaison between the FMHS and its many units and departments, as well as with the University’s Facilities Development, Facilities Management, Campus Space and Planning, Environmental Health and Safety, Fire Prevention, Security and Waste Management teams. She will also serve on the University Building Directors committee.

Ms. Côté graduated from Bishop’s University with a degree in International Business. Her career spans more than 20 years and she brings extensive experience in resource management, and construction industry policies and practices to her new role, along with significant achievements in strategic planning, large-scale institutional projects and project management.

Ms. Côté is highly regarded for her leadership abilities. She has held numerous positions at McGill in the past 15 years including Manager, Projects and Logistics, Building Services, FMHS; Manager, Special Projects, and Planning, Campus Planning and Development Office; and Associate Director, Strategic Initiatives, Office of the Vice-Principal (Research and International Relations).

Ms. Côté has completed a variety of continuing education in construction, IT, project and change management.
