This conference will focus on the roles played by ligand-gated signaling in epileptiform synchronization and epileptogenesis. To this end, a Faculty of prominent researchers from Canada, Europe and USA will gather at the Montreal Neurological Institute of McGill University to review their most recent studies and to discuss the contribution of neuronal and glial networks to the pathophysiology of epileptic disorders.
Specific topics will include:
Ligand-gated signaling genes and epileptic disorders
EEG and metabolic patterns in patients with focal epileptic disorders
Ligand-gated mechanisms as determinants for focal seizures occurrence
Synaptic plasticity and epileptogenesis
Circadian rhythm and epileptic synchronization
Synaptic signaling as a target for curing epileptic disorders
