Faculty members in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) along with Faculty of Science members who teach in the FMHS were recognized with glowing endorsements by learners themselves as the academic year draws to a close.
Thank a Prof is an initiative led by Teaching and Learning Services (TLS), inviting learners to submit thank you messages to their instructors. TLS then sends a letter to instructors congratulating them on the acknowledgement along with anonymous thank you quotes from students themselves. These letters can be used for resumes, hiring and promotional purposes.
“I cannot help but smile when seeing how many of our faculty members were acknowledged by learners,” said Dr. Annette Majnemer, Vice-Dean, Education. “These are busy students during an extraordinary year, and they took the time to say thank you. It’s incredibly touching and speaks volumes to the power of a great instructor.”
Thank a Prof was promoted throughout Teacher Appreciation Week as part of the Faculty’s ongoing Proud to Teach campaign, an initiative designed to recognize and value the central importance of teaching across the Faculty. Teacher Appreciation Week takes place during the first week of February in Quebec.
Schools and Units across the Faculty celebrated the week this year including thank you messages sent to instructors and mentors in clinical settings and Proud to Teach thank you messages posted on hospital TV screens and social media.
“Thank a Prof centres the voice of students who choose to take the time to say thank you to instructors that made an impact in their lives, and we genuinely love sharing this warmth and recognition with instructors themselves,” noted Dr. Laura Winer, TLS Director.
Learners can submit acknowledgements to instructors on the Thank a Prof webform at any time.
