Every year, the Québec Medical Association (QMA) honours physicians for their outstanding achievements in different fields of activity or who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment within their community or association through their “Excellence Awards”.
One of these awards, entitled The Teaching-Clinician Award recognizes the exceptional commitment of a physician who also teaches in one of the faculties of medicine in Québec. He or she must have made a significant contribution to the training of future physicians in Québec.
This year, we are proud to announce that Drs. Raquel Del-Carpio and Dominique Shum-Tim are co-recipients of this award.
Dr. Del-Carpio is currently Chief of Radiology at McGill University Health Centre and radiologist at The Montreal General Hospital, as well as a professor in the Department of Radiology for the Faculty of Medicine. She completed her medical degree at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Peru, and continued residency and fellowship training at McGill University and the Montreal Neurological Hospital in Neuroradiology. Her research interests include brain tumors, head trauma, and infectious disease.
Dr. Shum Tim received his medical degree from McGill University, and completed fellowships in both Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, and Cardiovascular Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
