This year’s Dr. Hirsh Rosenfeld Distinguished Lecture in Family Medicine will be presented by Mark Ware, MD, Associate Professor at the Department of Family Medicine and Director of the interdisciplinary Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit, based at the Montreal General Hospital.

In this public lecture, we will examine the scientific basis of pain, explore the range of strategies available to manage pain and discuss the gaps in our knowledge of pain and its implications. We will also examine pain through the patients’ eyes using artistic expressions to convey the profound impact, positive and negative, that pain has on our cultural and social lives. Between the lenses of art and science, we will explore the world of pain and strive for a better understanding of this important and challenging symptom that all too often becomes a disease in its own right.

Topic: The Challenge of Pain: Art, Science and beyond. (The presentation will be in English but comments and questions in French are most welcome.)

Date: Tuesday May 7, 7 – 8.30pm.

Where: Hybrid. In person at: 5858 Côte-des-Neiges (third-floor). Online via Zoom (a link will be sent to you after registration).

*Free Admission – Open to the general public*

Light snacks and refreshments will be served from 6pm.
