I am pleased to announce the appointment of Catherine Millar to the position of Director, Office of Accreditation and Education Quality Improvement, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University. This newly created office will provide high level expertise and administrative support for education-related quality assurance and quality improvement activities across the Faculty, to include accreditation, program evaluation, assessment of teaching and learning, and cyclical review.

Ms. Millar first joined the Faculty of Medicine in 2015 as Associate Director of Accreditation. In this role she successfully guided all health professions education programs through accreditation review and began the work of implementing an ongoing process of oversight for compliance with accreditation standards. In her new role, Catherine will continue this work with the goal of harmonizing processes where possible and embedding accreditation standards into other key education quality improvement activities.

Prior to joining McGill, Ms. Millar served as Manager, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programs and Accreditation for the Canadian Urological Association where she spearheaded the elimination of co-developed CPD activities. She has additional experience as a procedural advisor at both the House of Commons and the Canadian Senate. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in French Literature from University of King’s College/Dalhousie University and in Honours Translation from the University of Ottawa, as well as a Master’s degree in Translation Studies with a focus on Cultural Studies from the University of Ottawa.

Please join me in welcoming Catherine Millar into this new role and in wishing her continued success in her efforts to provide the support necessary to ensure our programs are of the highest quality.
