I am pleased to announce the appointment of Catherine Millar to the position of Director, Administration and Operations, Medical Education. This newly created position will provide high-level expertise and senior administrative direction for all education-related activities across our UGME and PGME teams.

Ms. Millar first joined the Faculty of Medicine in 2015 as Associate Director of Accreditation. In this role she successfully guided health professions education programs through accreditation reviews and began the work of implementing an ongoing process of oversight for compliance with accreditation standards. Just recently, Catherine was promoted to the position of Director, Office of Accreditation and Education Quality Improvement, to also work on harmonizing processes where possible and embedding accreditation standards into other key education quality improvement activities.

Prior to joining McGill, Ms. Millar served as Manager, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programs and Accreditation for the Canadian Urological Association. She has additional experience as a procedural advisor at both the House of Commons and the Canadian Senate. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in French Literature from University of King’s College/Dalhousie University and in Honours Translation from the University of Ottawa, as well as a Master’s degree in Translation Studies with a focus on Cultural Studies from the University of Ottawa.

Catherine will be starting in her new functions in the next few weeks, as soon as a successor is found to take charge of her current portfolio.

Please join me in welcoming Catherine Millar into her new role and in wishing her continued success within our Faculty.
