Catherine MillarIt is with pleasure that I announce the appointment of Catherine Millar to the position of Associate Director of Accreditation, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University.

Ms. Millar joins the Accreditation Office, where she will lead a dedicated team that includes Natalie Phillips-Elgar, the Faculty’s Accreditation Officer, and Katlyn Martin, Accreditation Administrator. Reporting to the newly created position of Vice-Dean, Education, Ms. Millar’s primary responsibility will be to implement a quality assurance approach to accreditation across the Faculty.

Collaborating with associate deans, chairs and directors of the Faculty’s departments and units, Ms. Millar will oversee and manage all accreditation-related activities and processes, including cyclical reviews. She will participate in defining the strategic direction for the Faculty’s Accreditation Office and will serve as the primary point of contact on these matters. Among her tasks, she will coordinate accreditation site visits and follow-up activities. She will chair or serve as a regular member of committees created, as required, for the purposes of accreditation and external reviews, and will provide regular follow-up on progress.

Ms. Millar will also monitor the Faculty’s compliance with accreditation standards and elements, conducting systematic reviews, and ensure the Faculty’s leadership is aware of any areas that need targeted attention.

Prior to this appointment, Ms. Millar served as Manager, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programs and Accreditation for the Canadian Urological Association (CUA). She has additional professional experience with both the House of Commons and the Canadian Senate. She holds bachelor’s degrees in French Literature from University of King’s College/Dalhousie University and in Honours Translation from the University of Ottawa, as well as a master’s degree in Cultural Studies from the University of Ottawa.
