In light of an expanding mandate and a commitment to ensure inclusive and transparent Faculty governance, the Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) program, McGill Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, is seeking one faculty member to join the following committee in the role of ‘member at large – clinical department, involved in teaching but without a leadership role in UGME’:

The nominee should be from a clinical department, involved in teaching but without a leadership role in UGME.
The Undergraduate Medical Education Prize Nomination Subcommittee term of representation is three (3) years, renewable. The Committee meets no less than two (2) times per academic year. The Chair may convene additional meetings when necessary.
The responsibility of the Prize Nomination Subcommittee (PNS) is delegated from the Students Promotions Committee (SPC). The mandate of the Prize Nomination Subcommittee is to assist the SPC in the recommendation of nominees for non-discipline or non-course prizes. Its scope will include review of the potential nominees’ academic files, personal letters, prize applications, interview with the nominees in order to make a final recommendation to the SPC. Some non-discipline or non-course prizes may not require the input of the PNS as the winner is based on top grade. Specific attribution details of prizes can be found on the e-calendar of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Prize Nomination Subcommittee:
- Reviews academic files, personal letters, prize applications and other relevant documents of nominees for each prize
- Selects and interviews nominees based on the review process established for prizes
- Makes the final recommendation for a winner based on the prize’s criteria to the SPC
Procedure for Nominations
All nominations must be submitted online and include a few sentences describing the nominee’s interest and the contributions one believes they would bring to the committee. Submissions will be reviewed by the Faculty Council Nominating Committee, which in turn will make recommendations to the Vice-Principal (Health Affairs) and Dean of Medicine and Health Sciences, David Eidelman.
