Dear Colleagues,

In light of an expanding mandate and a commitment to ensure inclusive and transparent Faculty governance, the Ad Hoc Committee on Commemoration and Naming, McGill Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, is seeking two (2) faculty members to join the following committee in the role of:

  • One (1) Clinical faculty member with experience in equity, diversity and inclusion
  • One (1) Non-clinical faculty member with experience in equity, diversity and inclusion

The Ad Hoc Committee on Commemoration and Naming will meet three (3) to four (4) times this academic year. The Chair may convene additional meetings if necessary.

About the Ad Hoc Committee on Commemoration and Naming

The mission of this ad-hoc committee is to establish guidelines that update the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences approach to naming and commemorating in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, with principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in mind.

We welcome the participation of faculty members and students at various stages of their careers and education, especially those interested in naming and commemoration and representatives of under-represented groups.

Procedure for Nominations

All nominations must be submitted online and include a few sentences describing the nominee’s interest and the contributions one believes they would bring to the committee. Submissions will be reviewed by the Faculty Council Nominating Committee, which in turn will make recommendations to the Vice-Principal (Health Affairs) and Dean of Medicineand Health Sciences, David Eidelman.
