I am delighted to announce the appointment of Pascale Mongrain to the position of Senior Director, Administration & Operations, for the Faculty of Medicine, McGill University. Pascale joins the Office of the Vice-Principal (Health Affairs) and Dean of Medicine as part of a reorganization of our administration, to oversee the services we provide in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Communications, Development and Alumni Relations, Information Technology and Building Services. She brings more than 25 years of relevant experience to the Faculty from both the public and private sectors.

Trained as a chartered accountant and lawyer, Pascale has amassed unique expertise as an administrator in Quebec. She served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Quebec’s Ministry of Health and Social Services, where she was responsible for investment dossiers and ministerial budgets. In early 2012, she coordinated the diplomatic visit by the Quebec government to India (in which McGill participated), as part of international economic development initiatives in health. Pascale has also held high-level positions in the province’s Finance, Justice and Immigration ministerial cabinets.

Prior to her government mandates, Pascale was Chief Executive Officer for the Association de planification fiscale et financière, where she demonstrated her strengths in setting and achieving strategic priorities, improving the services offered and ensuring good overall governance. She honed training and leadership skills through senior roles at the Financière des professionnels (Montréal) and Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, where she led courses and conferences in fiscal and legal planning for professionals, including doctors, dentists and pharmacists. In the early 1990s, Pascale practiced corporate law at Heenan Blaikie.

As Senior Director, Administration & Operations, Pascale will provide executive support to the abovementioned services offered by the Faculty. In addition to overseeing a team of some 50 employees, she will collaborate with the leaders of these services to ensure daily operations and initiatives are aligned with the Faculty’s strategic goals. Pascale will work closely with the Faculty’s Finance Manager in the annual planning and implementation of its mandate. She will also support my Office in the realization of various initiatives.

As the Faculty of Medicine moves forward with many ambitious projects in the pipeline during this era of financial restraint, Pascale will be a tremendous contributor to our mission to continue delivering excellence in education, research and health care. Please join me in welcoming Pascale warmly to our Faculty.
