>We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Arvind K. Joshi to the position of Interim Chair and Interim Chief of the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the McGill Faculty of Medicine and the McGill University Health Centre, respectively. Dr. Joshi, whose appointment takes effect July 8, replaces Dr. Denis Querleu who has served as Chair and Chief since 2011. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Querleu for his commitment and leadership over the past two years.
Since 1997, Dr. Joshi has served as Director General and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of St. Mary’s Hospital Center, a McGill-affiliated institution and a model community hospital. An obstetrician and gynecologist, with training in maternal-fetal medicine, he is also Associate Professor in McGill’s Faculty of Medicine. He holds an MBA and is a Certified Health Executive in the Canadian College of Health Leaders and the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is a past member of the Board of the Corporation of Bishop’s University, the Board of Governors of Concordia University and the Association québécoise d’établissements de santé et de services sociaux, representing RUIS McGill.
Dr. Joshi brings extensive experience and knowledge of both McGill and the MUHC to this position. As Interim Chair and Chief, he will provide leadership in regards to our research, education and clinical missions, as well as strategic direction, advising us on all matters pertaining to the departments at both institutions and facilitating the transition to his successor.
We are delighted Dr. Joshi has graciously agreed to accept this appointment and are confident McGill and the MUHC will benefit from his academic and networking skills, as well as his leadership.
