One third of Quebecers leave their prescriptions unfilled finds McGill’s Dr. Robyn Tamblyn in a study funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the results of which were published March 31 in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine.
Startled by the findings, Dr. Tamblyn and her team noted that prescriptions for antibiotics were more likely to be filled than those meant to treat chronic conditions. The study did not address why patients were not filling their prescriptions, though that will be the subject of a follow-up study.
