Joint venture between McGill’s Ingram School of Nursing and Nursing Department of the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’île-de-Montreal is expected to improve access to frontline healthcare services
As of February 2, 2026, Quebec’s newest nurse practitioner (NP) led clinic in the West Island at CLSC Pierrefonds is open for business. A collaborative venture between McGill University’s Ingram School of Nursing and the Nursing Department of the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’île-de-Montreal, the clinic is designed to improve access to frontline services for individuals without a family doctor or primary care NP and will serve as a teaching site for McGill nursing, NP and other health profession students. Currently, services are offered by referral only. The clinic will expand gradually over the next several months as it hires a full complement of staff, and is expected to be fully operational by the end of the summer
The “soft launch” was attended by Irene Sarasua, Associate Professor and a key member of the core planning team, as well as Annie Chevrier, Associate Director – Graduate Programs, Innovation and Accreditation. “There was such energy in the room as the team prepared to welcome its first patients. It was a tangible reminder of what can happen when academic and clinical partners work together with intention and purpose,” said Prof. Chevrier.
