University places 30th globally and breaks into global top 10 for sustainability
McGill University is once again Canada’s top university, according to the 2027 QS World University Rankings released June 17. Rated 30th in the world among more than 1,500 institutions, McGill remains the highest-ranked university in Canada and the only Canadian institution to hold a place in the QS’ global top 30 for four consecutive years.
Compiled by Global higher education experts Quacquarelli Symonds, the QS World University Rankings is one of the world’s most comprehensive university assessments, evaluating more than 8,800 institutions across indicators related to research, employability, learning experience and global engagement. This year’s results underscore McGill’s continued strength in areas that matter most to students, employers and society.
“McGill’s continued ranking among the world’s top 30 universities, and first in Canada for a consecutive year, is a meaningful achievement,” said Deep Saini, President and Vice-Chancellor, McGill University. “At a time when the higher education sector is facing significant challenges, this outcome reflects our steadfast commitment to high-quality education and research, and is owed to the exceptional students, professors, staff and alumni who strengthen our university and its reputation around the world.”
While McGill slipped from 27th to 30th globally, it maintained its position as Canada’s leading university and continued to perform strongly across a range of key indicators.
