Margaux Watine will be joining McGill University as the new Managing Director, Development, Health Affairs, effective November 24. Ms. Watine replaces Brian Thompson, who recently joined the Montreal General Hospital (MGH) Foundation as President and CEO after many years of contributions to McGill, during which he brought a tremendous passion for his craft and an unparalleled dedication to our mission.

Ms. Watine currently serves as Vice-President, Development, at the MGH Foundation and is a recognized leader in philanthropic development. Her experience spans transformational giving at the MGH as well as at institutions such as the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation, and the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation. She holds an Executive MBA from McGill and HEC.

In her new role, Ms. Watine will lead fundraising strategy and execution for McGill’s academic health enterprise, with a focus on the Faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences.  As lead fundraiser for Health Affairs, she will align fundraising efforts with academic priorities, foster collaboration across University Advancement and the University, and manage relationships with McGill’s affiliated hospital foundations.
