Learners from our six Schools are known for their kindness and their commitment to serving society. Here is just a small sampling of some of the initiatives these outstanding learners organized this holiday season to spread a little joy and offer a helping hand to those in need.
Students from the Physical & Occupational Therapy Undergraduate Society (POTUS) (above) took part in Projet Sapin des Fêtes, setting up a tree in McMed and raising $6,000 in gifts for kids in need. The Nursing Undergraduate Society (NUS) also participated in Projet Sapin des Fêtes, trimming a tree in the lobby of 680 Sherbrooke St. West with tags containing the name of a child under the care of the Direction de protection jeunesse (DPJ) and his or her gift request. The Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health Student Society (EBOSS) held a donation drive (above), led by Aariana Lopes, for La rue des Femmes a local women’s shelter.
The Medical Student Wellness Committee and the McGill Geriatrics Interest Group held a holiday card-making event on campus for senior citizens living in CHSLDs to bring some cheer and spirit this winter.
The Physiology Undergraduate League of Students (PULS) (pictured above are Lyra M. (left) and Kendra M.) held a successful samosa sale to contribute to a city-wide fundraiser for Batshaw Youth and Family Centres, for which several FMHS staff members also raised funds to buy gifts for children in need (below).
