Are you a Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) investigator looking to increase the profile of your research and share your expertise with a broader audience? McGill’s central Communications Office, working closely with communications colleagues in the FMHS and research and clinical institutes, can help connect you with journalists, promote your expertise and research, provide media training and offer guidance on op-ed writing.

We aim to inform journalists about research and strengthen the University’s reputation as a source of expertise. Explore the opportunities below.

Promote your research

Our newsroom team develops stories for external audiences, including press releases highlighting research discoveries. These are also amplified by our partners in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and your research or clinical institute.

Here are some points to keep in mind:

  1. Research is most likely to be a good fit when it is
  • relevant beyond academia;
  • tackles issues of public interest,
  • demonstrates the University’s contributions to society
  • newly published or forthcoming.
  1. In multi-author publications, at least one lead author or principal investigator should be a McGill professor, postdoctoral fellow or doctoral student. Research led by a master’s student may also be considered.
