D2R Webinar: Anti-Black Racism in Health Research, with Mariloue Daudier. This session will explore the history of slavery in Canada, trace the evolution of anti-Black racism within Canadian health research, and highlight practices and strategies to address and counter these challenges. Info.

Art for Reflection & Progress: The McGill Osler Society × BMSA McGill are hosting Art for Reflection & Progress, an immersive art exhibition using art and history to reflect on medicine’s past, take accountability, and celebrate progress toward equity. Sickle Cell & Blood Donation Awareness Conference: BMSA is proud and excited to invite you to a focused conference session on sickle cell disease, hosted in partnership with the AAFQ. This event brings together medical experts, community leaders, and patients with lived experience, with the goal to enhance understanding, dispel misconceptions, and highlight the importance of equitable care for individuals living with sickle cell disease. From Stigma to Support: Changing the Conversation on Black Mental Health, with Myrna Lashley, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. This event will explore the stigma and current state of Black mental health in Canada, highlighting both best practices and the biases that shape clinical care. Through real-life examples, we’ll examine how Black individuals navigating psychological concerns may experience dismissal, gaslighting, or misinterpretation of their symptoms—often rooted in systemic and practitioner-level bias. We will also discuss how clinicians’ assumptions can influence diagnosis and treatment, particularly when lived experiences of racism are minimized or overlooked. Info.
Nursing, Care, and Black Womanhood: a panel conversation exploring care as practice, profession, and cultural inheritance. Drawing on nursing, mental health, fashion, community organizing, and lived experience, panellists reflect on Black womanhood, intergenerational care, creativity, sustainability, and healing across personal, clinical, and communal spaces. Medicine in Crisis Zones: The McGill Black Medical Students’ Association (BMSA), in collaboration with the Black Law Students’ Association, invites medical and law students to “Medicine in Crisis Zones: The Role of Law and Advocacy.” This interactive panel will bring together humanitarian law and medical experts to discuss healthcare, legal frameworks, and advocacy in crisis settings.
